As a convicted felon, applying for employment can be a daunting task. After having paid your debt to society for your crime, you're still being punished for it after your release in the workforce. A felony on your record can stop you from attaining employment that you qualify for or finding a place to live. Being turned down by almost every employer is very discouraging for a person trying to get their life back on the right track. This pattern only leads them back to a life of crime to survive and/or make a decent living. So if our country's motto is going to be "In God We Trust", then that trust has to be extended the general population. These people need to be given a chance to show that change is possible. To not give a person a job because of a felony offence on his or her criminal record is a form of discrimination at it's best & let's face it; it's racial profiling.
