I am exceedingly pleased to announce that T-NSW have informed us that Heaton Avenue will remain open to exit 24hrs!!!
In addition to SHACC advocacy, it was the vociferous reaction of the local community, including your massive effort in writing letters and submissions, that ensured Heaton Avenue will stay open.
We must also thank the Northern Beaches Council for their support of our cause and who were very sympathetic to the impacts on our community and worked with us to achieve 24 hour access. SHACC would also like to thank our outgoing local member, Mike Baird who promised us that residents couldn't be cut off from their homes and advocated with T-NSW on our behalf.
SHACC representatives met today with T-NSW who took us through their revised modelling. They advised that there remain 2 options to the indented bus bay: Option 1: 24 hour access in and out of Heaton (bus bay north of Heaton) and Option 2: No left turn into Heaton (bus bay moves partially north) but exit from Heaton remains.
The final decision on which option will be adopted will follow further environmental, geotechnical and economic research. A decision should be made in early - mid March and will be communicated to SHACC and subsequently the local community.
Thanks again for being part of this journey - I love a success for the local community.
Regards
Sarah Grattan on behalf of the SHACC forum (Clontarf Community Forum, Nth Harbour Community Forum & Balgowlah Heights residents)
PS. in the meantime some Mosman/ Cremorne residents further down the B-Line are asking for support in their campaign against indented bus bays. https://www.change.org/p/gladys-stop-b-line-project-s-indented-bus-bays
