The Issue

THE ISSUES WE BELIEVE NEED ADDRESSING

People across the United Kingdom are increasingly frustrated about the direction of the country and how taxpayers’ money is being spent.

Among the concerns being raised are:

Fuel prices and fuel duty — motorists, commuters, tradespeople, hauliers and businesses are struggling with the cost of keeping vehicles on the road.
The cost of living — families are facing increasing pressure from food, energy, housing, transport and everyday household expenses.
Billions of pounds being committed overseas — including substantial financial and military support for overseas conflicts. Many taxpayers are asking whether this level of spending should be prioritised while people in the UK are struggling financially.
Illegal immigration and the asylum system — concerns about people entering or remaining in the UK unlawfully, the cost of accommodation and support, pressure on public services, and whether immigration laws are being properly enforced.
Housing shortages and pressure on public services — concerns about access to affordable housing, NHS services, schools and other essential services.
Government waste and inefficient spending — taxpayers want much greater transparency over how billions of pounds of public money are being spent and whether that money is delivering value.
High taxation — many working people feel they are paying increasingly high levels of tax while household finances remain under significant pressure.
Pressure on the NHS and other public services — people are questioning why essential services remain under such pressure despite the enormous amount of money raised through taxation.
Lack of accountability between elections — once an MP has been elected, constituents have very limited ability to remove them before the next general election.
A growing disconnect between Parliament and the people — many people believe politicians should be more directly accountable to the taxpayers and constituents they represent.
OUR PROPOSED “FIRE TO REHIRE” MECHANISM

We are calling for a new “Fire to Rehire” democratic mechanism for MPs.

The principle is simple:

If enough constituents believe their elected MP is no longer representing them, they should have the right to trigger a recall election.

Under a properly defined system:

Constituents would be able to initiate a Fire to Rehire petition against their MP.
A clearly defined percentage or number of registered voters within the constituency would be required to support the petition.
Once the required threshold is reached and independently verified, a recall election would be triggered.
The MP would have the opportunity to stand again and defend their record.
Constituents would then decide whether to rehire the existing MP or elect somebody else.
This would not mean automatically removing MPs because of unpopular opinions or political disagreements.

It would mean giving constituents a democratic mechanism to demand a fresh mandate when the required level of public support for a recall has been reached.

ELECTED BY US. PAID BY US. ACCOUNTABLE TO US.

We believe winning a general election should not mean receiving a blank cheque for the entire parliamentary term.

MPs should remain accountable to the people they represent.

We are calling for the UK to introduce a meaningful Fire to Rehire mechanism and put greater power back into the hands of voters.
