Elect Simran as next class SBA Dual 1L president
The Issue
Hi everyone! I’ve been contemplating running for Class President for a while, which is why I’m putting my name in the hat a little late, but I genuinely believe I’m the best candidate for the job.
As one of the founding three members of our Instagram group chat, I’ve been involved in advocating for our class from the very beginning. I helped create and grow the group chat, reaching out to people who weren’t aware of our Dual specific chat and adding them. I was also heavily involved when we were fighting the LSAC/CAS fees, and after quite a bit of emailing (and lowkey complaining) to Stephanie, the CAS report fee was waived and eventually so was the CAS subscription fee.
Since then, I’ve continued to speak up when issues affect our class. After the bee incident, I raised our concerns directly with a professor and was assured that steps would be taken to prevent something similar from happening again. More recently, after speaking with several classmates about being penalized for returning late from breaks when the clock appeared to be incorrect, I contacted our ALTA professor and helped work toward a resolution.
I feel like I’ve already been acting as class president in many ways: listening to our concerns, communicating them to the school, and trying to find solutions. I’d love the opportunity to continue doing that in a more official capacity.
I’d be incredibly grateful for your 25 signatures to get me on the ballot and, hopefully, for your vote. If there’s an issue affecting our class, I’m not afraid to speak up, send the email, make the phone call, or (when necessary) do a little complaining until we get to a solution.
I feel like I’ve already been doing the work and seeing impact and becoming class president would allow me to continue bringing the change we need!
