Mi padre tiene  90 años y es vecino de Santa Ponsa desde hace toda una vida. Tras varias operaciones y problemas de salud, hoy necesita un caminador para desplazarse. Sin embargo, sigue luchando cada día por mantener su movilidad, su autonomía y su ánimo.

Hay algo que le ayuda más que cualquier medicamento: el mar.

Durante años ha encontrado en el agua un espacio donde puede ejercitarse, aliviar sus limitaciones físicas y recuperar energía. Para él, como para muchas personas mayores o con movilidad reducida, el mar no es un lujo ni un entretenimiento; es una necesidad para su bienestar físico y emocional.

Hoy, sin embargo, acceder al mar en la Playa Grande de Santa Ponsa se ha convertido en una tarea casi imposible.

La retirada de las pasarelas de acceso, las pérgolas de sombra adaptadas y otros servicios esenciales ha dejado sin alternativas a muchas personas que dependen de estas infraestructuras para disfrutar de la playa en igualdad de condiciones.

Esta situación afecta no solo a mi padre, sino también a personas con discapacidad, personas mayores, vecinos en proceso de rehabilitación y visitantes con movilidad reducida.

Resulta difícil comprender cómo una playa reconocida por su calidad puede carecer de elementos básicos de accesibilidad que durante años estuvieron disponibles y demostraron su utilidad.

Por ello solicitamos al Ayuntamiento de Calvià:

- La reinstalación inmediata de las pasarelas accesibles hasta la orilla.
- La recuperación de las pérgolas y zonas de sombra adaptadas.
- El restablecimiento de los servicios de baño asistido.
- El mantenimiento permanente de infraestructuras que garanticen el acceso al mar para todas las personas.

Una sociedad inclusiva no se mide por cómo trata a quienes no tienen dificultades, sino por cómo responde a quienes más apoyo necesitan.

Ninguna persona debería quedarse contemplando el mar desde la distancia porque una infraestructura accesible ha desaparecido.

Pedimos al Ayuntamiento de Calvià que actúe con urgencia y garantice que la Playa de Santa Ponsa vuelva a ser un espacio abierto, inclusivo y accesible para todos.

My Father Needs the Sea to Live. We Demand an Accessible Beach in Santa Ponsa
My father is 90 years old and has been a resident of Santa Ponsa all his life. After several operations and health problems, he now relies on a walker to get around. Nevertheless, he continues to fight every day to maintain his mobility, independence, and spirit.

There is one thing that helps him more than any medication: the sea.

For years, he has found in the water a place where he can exercise, ease his physical limitations, and regain strength and energy. For him, as for many elderly people and individuals with reduced mobility, the sea is not a luxury or a form of entertainment; it is essential for physical and emotional well-being.

Today, however, accessing the sea at Santa Ponsa's main beach has become an almost impossible task.

The removal of accessible walkways, adapted shaded areas, and other essential services has left many people without alternatives. These are individuals who depend on such facilities to enjoy the beach on equal terms with everyone else.

This situation affects not only my father, but also people with disabilities, older adults, residents undergoing rehabilitation, and visitors with reduced mobility.

It is difficult to understand how a beach renowned for its quality can lack basic accessibility features that were available for years and clearly proved their value.

We therefore call on the Calvià Town Council to:

Immediately reinstall accessible walkways extending to the shoreline.
Restore adapted pergolas and shaded areas.
Reinstate assisted bathing services.
Ensure the permanent maintenance of infrastructure that guarantees access to the sea for everyone.
An inclusive society is not measured by how it treats those who face no difficulties, but by how it responds to those who need support the most.

No one should be forced to look at the sea from a distance simply because accessible infrastructure has disappeared.

We urge the Calvià Town Council to act without delay and ensure that Santa Ponsa Beach once again becomes an open, inclusive, and accessible space for all.
