Good Afternoon Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters

There is Good News and Bad News regarding the Car Parking Crisis at Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations.

First the Bad News – A reply has been received from the Minister for Transport in relation to the “Fast Track the Funding Petition”.

I'm disappointed but not surprised by the response of Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance MP - Member for Bega who flies over South Western Sydney on his way to and from Parliament House to the Fast track the Funding Petition for #MoreParkingNow at Leppington Station.

The short answer to Commuters from Leppington and South Western Sydney is you will just have to continue to WAIT. I will provide a full transcript below

In the meantime there is a perfectly good piece land owned by the NSW Government across the road from the Station that could be used as a temporary solution BUT that suggestion just keeps getting ignored.

You can read the letter on my Page www.facebbook.com/Michael.Independent as I posted a picture of the Full Letter.

No reply from the Minister to my emails to the Minister or to Liverpool Council Letters yet from what I understand.

The GOOD News is that WITH YOUR HELP I intend to continue to take action and continue to keep the NSW Liberal Government accountable for its Election Promises to the Citizens of South Western Sydney.

Since starting this Petition in March 2018 (that’s 20 months ago) I have learned that Its not just Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations that are having Problems but many Stations in the Liverpool and Macarthur Region and further up the South Western Line.

In addition providing Additional Car Parking at Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations is a Band Aid Solution to fixing the Problem.

After speaking to numerous commuters and residents and Addressing the Liverpool Transport Committee back in October 2019 the answer to the growing problem of Public Transport need to be an Integrated Transport Solution which incorporates more Parking Space, a better Bus Service and a Train Service.

BUT MORE than just that the South West Rail Line needs to be EXTENDED to the Airport NOW not 2056 as proposed by the NSW State Liberal Government in favour of the Metro line extension from the Airport to St Mary’s.

IF the South West Rail Line is extended from Leppington to the Airport it would mean that at least 3 new stations with Car Parking would need to be Built which would help take the pressure off Ed Park and Leppington Now and hopefully a little into the Future. It also provides other major Benefits.

So Be Prepared there will be a LOT more signing over the next few months to do to get a Paper Petition to Parliament in 2020 with 10,000 signatures so that this matter MUST be debated in Parliament.

In the meantime  CAN YOU HELP our Friends Up the Line by Signing this Online Petition TO restore the Inner West Line to Liverpool via Regents Park, restore express trains for Lidcombe, Auburn, Granville and Save the T3 Bankstown Line (maintain heavy rail direct to City Circle) via the link below

Transcript of Letter from Andrew Constance regarding the Leppington Petition

I write in response to the petition lodged on 15 October by the Hon Mark Latham MLC, regarding Car parking at Leppington train Station.

I confirm the NSW Government is committed to doing all that it can to encourage the community to leave their cars at home and, where possible, use public transport to ease congestion across Greater Sydney. We recognise the provision of extra car parking spaces at key commuter hubs and Interchanges is one of the critical strategies to delivering this mode shift.

The NSW Government is equally committed to making life easier for public transport customers. This includes providing commuters with more free and untimed parking near stations and transport interchanges. Since 2011, nearly 10,000 parking spaces have been delivered across the network, with more than 4,000 extra spaces on the way.

As Mr Latham may be aware, in the 2019 NSW Election the NSW Government committed to investing $9 million to deliver 350 additional commuter car spaces at Leppington train station. These 350 car spaces are on top of 900 parking spots already available. This means that, once complete, there will be 1,250 spaces available at the station for customers. The NSW Government also remains committed to working with Mr Latham to address his concerns regarding the availability of commuter parking at Leppington train station.

I am advised that Transport of NSW is working hard to scope and plan the delivery of this commitment. Mr Latham may be assured that we will update the community on our plans to deliver on this commitment as soon as more information is available. Further information about our commuter car parks program is available at www.transport.nsw.gov.au and www.transport.info

Yours Sincerely

The Hon. Andrew Constance MP

Minister for Transport and Roads

Leader of the House

AGAIN If I can ask that you share my Video Clip to Andrew Constance on your Social Media Pages – If Mr Constance won’t provide #MoreParkingNow then at Least Open the Gate.  Video link https://youtu.be/85D27GobMVo

With State Parliament closed until the beginning of 2020 I will take a bit of time off to prepare and plan some further activities to keep the NSW Government accountable to the residents of South Western Sydney.

Yours Sincerely
