MY EMAIL TO PETER SIDGREAVES MP FOR CAMDEN and His Reply Below

Good Morning Mr Sidgreaves

I am writing to you regarding the Car Parking Crisis at Leppington Station to ask IF you have received any indication from Mr Constance Minister for Transport and Roads when the fund's will be released and when will work commence on upgrading the Car Park at Leppington Station?

On Friday Bryon Road was partly closed for NBN work will apparently last for some time.

Camden Council is planning to reseal Byron Road soon however I am yet to receive an email to my request for a date if when work will commence or how long it will take.  Could your office shed any light on this matter?

I also presented another Petition (the 8th Paper Petition about the Car Parking Crisis) with over 700 signatures obtained in 4 days to Mark Latham MLC

The Petition was presented in NSW Parliament House on the 17th October 2019

This Petition was organised by me after Mr Constance made his comments about the Car Parking Crisis on CH7 News earlier in October about throwing down some bitumen and painting some white lines to fix the Parking Problems.

Links provided in my Car Parking Crisis Petition Update from the 7th October 2019 - you can read and view video clips using the link below

https://www.change.org/p/increase-commuter-parking-at-edmondson-park-and-leppington-train-stations/u/25164148

The Online Petition is growing steadily and is now over 7900 supporters.

Also Just wondering how the Consultants are progressing ?

In the 2019 budget an amount of $212,000 was allocated to carry out investigations into providing consultants reports for solutions to the Car Parking issues.

a) Have those reports been done?

b) What was the outcome of the reports?

c) Are the reports available to the public?

d) Can you forward me a copy of the reports?

In addition  Mark Latham MLC provided some interesting information to the Parliament about the number of Commuters using Leppington Station and WHY the current Carpark is inadequate. I thought that you might find this information of interest also.

https://www.change.org/p/increase-commuter-parking-at-edmondson-park-and-leppington-train-stations/u/25201270

And finally I was doing some research on the last election results. A swing of 10.7% against the Liberal Party in Camden was pretty large.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/nsw/2019/guide/camd

Do you think that the Car Parking Crisis had something to do with that?

I do and hopefully we won't be talking about the issue at the next election in 2023 although the way things are going I'm not so sure about that.

I look forward to receiving your reply.

Kind Regards

REPLY RECEIVED FROM PETER SIDGREAVES MP FOR CAMDEN

Dear Michael,

Thank you for your email.

The preliminary investigation work is underway for the extra spaces. Site investigation work will start early next year with major construction likely to start late 2020. New commuter car parking spaces are earmarked to be available by the second half of 2021.

Signs have been installed at Heath Rd advising that resealing works are coming soon. It is my understanding that the works will commence early 2020. However, I would recommend that you contact council for council matters including information on local road works on 4654 7777 or mail@camden.nsw.gov.au

Kind regards,

Peter

MY EMAIL TO LIVERPOOL MAYOR AND COUNCIL – PRESTONS TRASH AND TREASURE A TEMPORARY SOLUTION

Good Afternoon Mayor Waller, Liverpool Councillors, Local MP's and interested parties

After my email of the 7th October 2019 in response to Comments made

by Minister Andrew Constance - see Below - regarding the Proposed

Solution to the Car Parking Crisis at Edmondson Park Station I ended up

having a meeting with Liverpool CEO and a Representative ofLiverpool

Trash and Treasure Market together with two members of the Liverpool

Council Planning Department on Friday the 1st November 2019.

We discussed the possibility of using this site as a temporary Commuter Car Park

based on it's current zoning and existing use rights.

The REPLY FROM THE CEO on the 1st November 2019 IS AS FOLLOWS

Good to meet with you Michael.

As discussed, I can confirm:

Council acknowledges that commuter car parking is a significant issue in Edmondson Park.

Council is clear that commuter car parking is the responsibility of Transport for NSW.

However, Council also supports finding a practical solution to the issues and working proactively with TfNSW as long as this is at no financial impact to Council.

EMAIL SENT TO MINISTER ANDREW CONSTANCE on 7th October 2019

Good Evening Mr Constance

I refer to your comments on CH7 News last Thursday when you

proposed a Temporary Solution to the Car paring Crisis at

Edmondson Park (and Leppington) Stations.

https://www.facebook.com/7NEWSsydney/videos/513478792764033/?t=1

Suburbs overrun by parked cars

Suburbs in our south-west are becoming overrun by parked cars, as train station carparks groan under the weight of rapidly growing communities. A new...

www.facebook.com

You stated that as a temporary fix you would provide "some

asphalt on the ground and line marking to make it safe".

Somewhat of a contemptuous statement and pretty

much a Slap in the face for Residents and Commuters in

South Western Sydney after the Election Promises that were

made by the Premier just before the State Election in March 2019.

At our meeting way back in May 2018 when I presented the

Car Parking Crisis Petition you asked me if "I was there to have

a whinge about OR Provide a Solution to the Car Parking Crisis"

The solution that I proposed in May 2018 is still available you

can read about it on the Link below

https://www.change.org/p/increase-commuter-parking-at-edmondson-park-and-leppington-train-stations/u/22764714

But I also have another Solution that you might consider which

might save a lot of time and that is to use the Trash and Treasure

Markets at Prestons which already has Bitumen on the Ground and

white lines already painted on it. See link below to view a short video

Prestons Trash and Treasure Markets Video  https://youtu.be/0WpB6Nc6Ph8

With Regard to Leppington I also made a suggestion to use the Land owned

across the road from Leppington Station

I do hope that you will act on this matter quickly as its already been

4 long years that the Car Parking Crisis has been going and its getting

worse by the day.

Please feel free to have your staff contact me for further Information

regarding Contacts and to progress the ideas further.

Yours Sincerely

LIVERPOOL COUNCILLORS WILL YOU SUPPORT A TEMPORARY SOLUTION ?

What I am seeking from the Mayor and Councillors is the Support for Liverpool Council

to once again write to the Minister for Transport Mr Andrew Constance as he has not

responded to my email of the 7th October 2019 and hopefully support this proposal

for a temporary Solution to the Car Parking Crisis at Edmondson Park Station.

It will save the State Government looking for a piece of land and throwing down some

asphalt and painting white lines as all those things are already there.

It would certainly take the pressure off until the Premier, Minister and Treasurer see

fit to release the funds promised prior to the Election in March 2019 to construct the Multi Level Car Park at Ed Park.

I look forward to the Support of this proposal for the benefit of Commuters and residents of Liverpool LGA.

Yours Sincerely
