Good Morning Fellow Residents, Commuters and Supporters I have a few issues to cover in this Update for both Edmondson Park and Leppington. 1) I have approached and spoken to 3 property Owners in Edmondson Park that i have know for sometime and who have all indicated an interest in talking to the State Government about potentially leasing their land for a temporary car park until a Multi Level Car Park is built at the Station. I will be presenting details to the Minister at my Meeting with Him on the 22nd May 2018. 2) Camden Council has redesigned the Parking in front of Leppington School to try and help School Parents but has now made it worse for Commuters. They have also written to Transport for NSW asking that the Land that I identified on the Cnr of Rickard and Bryon Rds be used for additional Car Parking. Read more about via the Link https://www.change.org/p/rob-stokes-mp-nsw-minister-for-education-protect-the-children-at-leppington-primary-school/u/22764572 3) MORE MEDIA EXPOSURE An article in the South West Voice was published and I had an interview on Local Campbelltown Radio 91.3 FM http://www.southwestvoice.com.au/man-behind-petition-wants-commuter-carparking-crisis-fixed/ 4) LUKE FOLEY TOWN HALL MEETING I attended the Town Hall meeting on Thursday the 17th May and got to ask the first question of the night which was - "How much carpark does $18 million buy?" Luke Foley provided an articulate answer saying that it would but enough to cope with current and future demand - a figure of around 1000 was mentioned. Most interesting was his statement that after the flying visit to Casula Mall by the Premier he wouldn't be surprised if the Government announced funding for a Multi Level Carpark in the next budget which Labor would support on a bipartisan basis (subject to seeing the terms, conditions, timing and amount). And I have to agree, my feeling is last weeks visit is a precursor to an funding announcement regarding the Car Parking Crisis at Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations. 5) READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF THE PREMIERS VISIT ON THE 10TH MAY 2018 Having watched the Video Clip on the Liverpool Leader Facebook Post on the 15th May 2018 there is obviously a hint that there will be money spent on infrastructure here soon. I expect something will be announced in the Budget and it will be because or YOUR efforts to sign the Petition and put a Spotlight on the problems that we are encountering here in the South Western Suburbs. Not sure if this link will work but here is the video - Judge for yourselves As a Life Long Resident of Liverpool I agree - Liverpool is a great place to Live and Work - I have a question has the Member for Holsworthy ever lived in Liverpool (since she is a Sutherland Shire former Councillor and resident)? Good to know more investment is coming into the area also - Would that be for Multi Level Carparks at Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations - Now that over 5700 people have signed a Petition calling for improvements since the current infrastructure can't cope with demand? #MoreParkingNow THE LIVERPOOL CHAMPION ALSO RAN A GOOD ARTICLE ASKING SOME GOOD QUESTIONS AND DEFINITELY WORTH READING https://www.liverpoolchampion.com.au/story/5393846/our-interview-with-the-nsw-premier/?cs=1843 Gladys Berejiklian (speaking at Casula) says "I built the car parks and made sure south-west Sydney had the public transport services it needed. It’s a popular service now and we’re looking forward to delivering on Melanie Gibbons’ request." ...."It’s fantastic that people want to live here and raise their children here like Melanie Gibbons and her family." (Again does Melanie Gibbons even live in the Liverpool Area?) Lets see what announcements will be made in the State Budget now that that the State Government has had a wake up call from the Residents of Liverpool and MacArthur area. 6) LIVERPOOL COUNCIL I am waiting to hear back from Liverpool Council about progress on the angle parking proposal for sections of Benera Road. Also Landcom have lodged a DA to extend Buchan Ave to the Station. LAST CHANCE TO ADD YOUR COMMENTS TO THE PETITION AS IT WILL BE PRESENTED ON THE 22ND MAY 2018 TO ANDREW CONSTANCE. THANK YOU for all your efforts to sign and share the Petition. I am quietly confident that the the meeting with the Minister will be productive and that an announcement will be made after the State Budget is announced (undoubtedly the State Government will take the Credit for any initiative to build additional Car Parks at Leppington and Edmondson Park but you and I know where the Credit really belongs and that is to the People Powered Community Based Petition that put the Spotlight on the issue in the first place). Have a great weekend I will have another update next week after my meeting. Yours Sincerely Michael Andjelkovic JP Community Campaigner for Greater Liverpool.
