WestJet's most recent "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report" (which hasn't been updated since 2014) states the following:

"In 2013, our diversion rate was 44.9 per cent (98.8 tonnes), of which 48.2 per cent (47.6 tonnes) were organics and were
composted. In 2014, 47.8 per cent of all refuse was diverted, of which 46.7 per cent (44.9 tonnes) were organics and composted."

With more than HALF of the food and waste production within the airlines being thrown out, as opposed to being composted, one of the many questions that I will impose to the board is how can we improve those numbers?

Further, international waste entering Canada is expected to follow CBSA inspector guidelines which most often does not include a form of recycling. Therefore, one of the topics that I am hoping to discuss with WestJet airlines, is what alternative methods could be potentially executed in order to ensure that waste on international flights are reduced, recycled and disposed in the most economically efficient way possible? Or if it is possible that we could use WestJet's connections to get in contact and work with CBSA to create and implement a reformed national policy so that all Canadian airlines are recycling international waste.

However, none of these goals would be possible to achieve without the support of all of you. Thank you for over 25,000 signatures, please continue to share this petition and spread the message on the importance of proper recycling on airlines and the long-term difference that it can create.
