After months of working with city government to re-establish the Mitscher Park ice rink, it received the go ahead this week, along with news that Shawtown Neighborhood Park will also have their ice rink restored into operation this winter. Renee Tyler, Director of Community Services under the direction of Acting Interim City Manager and Finance Director Jay Winzenz was able to rearrange existing funds as well as staffing to move forward with reopening both rinks. A special thank you to District 2 City Council member Emily Anderson who saw this process through, problem solving and keeping the issue in front of fellow council members as well as city officials. Without the work of these individuals, there would not be an ice rink at Mitscher Park or Shawtown this winter.
