There has been enormous community support for reestablishing the Mitscher Park Ice Skating Rink with more than 300 people signing petitions in the last 24 hours. We have been interviewed by local TV WQOW News 18 (ABC) and are turning our sights now towards the virtual City Council Meeting this coming Monday at 7pm. Here is the action we need to take to succeed in reopening the ice rink. First and most important is to contact Dave Solberg (715-839-4902), the interim city manager, and Jay Winzenz (715-839-4915), the finance director and current acting city manager and encourage them to include funds for the Mitscher Park Ice Skating Rink in the 2022 Eau Claire City Budget. They are drafting the 2022 city budget right now. I have been told that if they put the money in the budget, the City Council simply has to vote yes for it to pass and be approved. If it does not make it in Dave Solberg's budget draft, City Council would have to remove money from the budget to make room for the skating rink. We need to flood Dave Solberg and Jay Winzenz with phone calls, emails and texts. Second, we need as many people as possible to log in virtually this coming Monday at 7pm to the City Council Meeting and voice support for funding the Mitscher Park Ice Skating Rink during the public hearing part of the meeting. Let our voices be heard! It is important that we have a strong vocal presence at that City Council meeting. Thank you for all your support, we are almost there!!!!
