Share a progress update, thank your supporters, or ask for help... Many of you who signed the petition have raised serious concerns about fire risks, emergency response, and oversight of large solar facilities.
Now there is finally an opportunity to put those concerns on the official record at the Connecticut State Capitol.
🔥 Public Hearing on Solar Facility Fires
A new bill has been introduced at the legislature:
Raised H.B. 5457 — An Act Concerning Fires and Explosions at Solar Photovoltaic Facilities
This legislation would:
• Require local fire marshals to report fires or explosions at solar facilities to the Connecticut Siting Council
• Require the Siting Council to investigate whether solar equipment contributed to the incident
• Allow the Council to order solar facility owners to implement fire mitigation plans
• Allow the Council to require similar safety plans at other comparable facilities statewide

⚠️ For too long, communities raising safety concerns about large solar facilities have been told those concerns are speculative.
This hearing is an opportunity for residents, firefighters, and communities across Connecticut to speak directly to lawmakers about real safety and emergency response challenges.
📢 Please share this with anyone who cares about safety, transparency, and responsible energy development.
The more people who speak up, the harder these concerns are to ignore.
