🏛 State Representative Carol Hall Invites Governor Lamont to East Windsor
This week, Carol Hall formally invited Ned Lamont to visit East Windsor and see firsthand the scale and impact of the Gravel Pit solar project.
Her letter asks the Governor to come to East Windsor and witness the effects these massive utility-scale solar installations are having on:
• farmland
• community character
• local residents
She also created a page where residents can add their names to the invitation asking the Governor to visit.

There is also an important public hearing this week regarding fire safety at energy facilities thanks to State Representative Jaime Foster.
The Energy & Technology Committee is hearing HB 5472, which would:
• require energy facilities to report safety incidents
• mandate emergency response coordination
• establish contacts and training for local fire departments
📅 Public Hearing: Thursday, March 12 – 11:00 AM
📍 Room 1D, Legislative Office Building + Zoom

🌾 Regional Attention Is Growing
This issue is no longer just about one project.
Neighboring towns are also beginning to address the impact of large utility-scale solar on farmland.
The Ellington Board of Selectmen is currently considering a resolution opposing large solar facilities on prime agricultural land and asking the state to restore stronger municipal authority over siting decisions.
I have also been asked to speak about East Windsor’s experience with the Gravel Pit solar project as part of that discussion.
