Dear Petition Supporters,
I wanted to personally update you on what is happening with our effort to protect East Windsor.
Today I sent another email directly to Governor Ned Lamont and this time also copied Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz demanding a moratorium on additional large-scale solar development in East Windsor.
Because of all of you, our petition has now reached 2,250 supporters from East Windsor and surrounding communities including Vernon, Enfield, Ellington, and South Windsor.
East Windsor already hosts nearly 25% of Connecticut’s large-scale solar generation, making our town the most heavily burdened community in the state and home to the largest concentration of utility-scale solar in New England.
We are simply asking the State to pause and evaluate the cumulative impacts on prime farmland, rural communities, and public safety before allowing additional projects to move forward in one small agricultural town.
In addition to contacting the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, I have also reached out to:
• State Representative Jaime Foster
• State Representative Carol Hall
• State Senator Saud Anwar
• East Windsor Board of Selectmen member Jason Bowsza
I have also shared this issue with reporters so the public can better understand the cumulative impact of large-scale solar development in our community.
Shortly after sending the email, I received an acknowledgment from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor confirming that our message was received and will be reviewed.
This shows that our voices are reaching Hartford — but we still need the Governor to act.
We are continuing to request:
• A moratorium on additional solar projects in East Windsor
• A statewide review of solar siting policies
• Reform of the Connecticut Siting Council process, which currently allows large-scale projects to override local zoning and ignore cumulative impacts on communities like ours.

Please consider contacting state leaders directly. Even a short email can help.

Subject: Request for Moratorium on Solar Development in East Windsor
Dear Governor Lamont and Connecticut State Leaders,
I am writing as a concerned resident asking you to declare a moratorium on additional large-scale solar development in East Windsor.
East Windsor already hosts nearly 25% of Connecticut’s large-scale solar generation, making it the most heavily burdened town in the state and home to the largest concentration of utility-scale solar in New England.
Before additional projects move forward, the State should pause and evaluate the cumulative impacts on prime farmland, rural communities, and public safety.
I respectfully urge you to support:
• A moratorium on additional solar projects in East Windsor
• A statewide review of solar siting policies
• Reform of the Connecticut Siting Council process to ensure communities are not disproportionately burdened.
Thank you for your time and for considering the concerns of residents across our region.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Your Town]

Your support has already made a difference. We must keep the pressure on. Please continue sharing the petition and spreading the word so state leaders understand how strongly our community feels about this issue.
Together, we will keep fighting for East Windsor.
Thank you for standing with us.
-A concerned but grateful East Windsor Citizen
