Detective Cpl. Michael T. Petow is caught on tape blatantly sexually assaulting Beth Murphy Ward, a retired elementary school teacher, at a town hall meeting on Feb 12, 2017. He is a detective on the Major Crimes squad- not a rookie. There is no excuse. This cannot stand. We are calling for his immediate removal from the police force, for the East Providence Police Department to charge him with sexual assault and drop the unwarranted disorderly conduct charge against Beth Murphy Ward.
