The East Penn School District has not had full time in person instruction since March 2020.  The students of this district are suffering mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, academically and most importantly unnecessarily.  The district and board continue to keep the buildings closed and the students K-12 are on a sub par, failed online platform. The students are spending upwards of 8 hours a day on a device navigating between Zoom, PowerSchool, Schoology, Kama, two e-mail addresses and a host of other platforms they are expected to navigate. The excessive screen time is against the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The AAP and other health providers in our area and across the country are recommending that children be back in the classroom.  There is no community spread for the children and the schools have been deemed the safest place to be. Since August 2020 parents have asked to be included in the discussion to no avail. The team for the district has parents but the parents are all on the payroll of the district as employees. There needs to be a bi-partisan, common sense approach to full time instruction that follows the science. The district and board have censored parents, have tried to silence parents and do not wish for the taxpayers, parents and community members to be part of the discussion. It is time for the unions to sit down and for the adults to stand up and put the students of this district first! The continued closures and poor decisions are harming the students of this district and it is fiscally irresponsible to collect and waste taxpayer dollars for schools operating in this manner. #GoTeamKids
