Petition updateDr. Jeffrey Moss should resign as the Superintendent of Beaufort County SchoolsBeaufort County School Board gives Moss a POSITIVE review

Late last night, the Beaufort County School Board released a statement on the performance of Dr. Moss. They had waited months to take any action regarding the fact that he eliminated the district policy regarding nepotism, paving the way for the hiring of his wife. The board gave Dr. Moss a positive performance review and declared the nepotism over, stating it had "been addressed". The school board released no other information.
It is clear that, based on how this episode was handled, the board and its members lack the competence to provide professional oversight and guidance to the district administrative office. Additionally, the arrogance displayed by several board members toward their constituents implies that there is a lack of leadership on the board and it is in need of an overhaul.
People who would like to get further involved should reach out to the group CARE, Citizens About Responsible Education. With meager gains in graduation rates, poor overall test scores and a pending request for a half of billion dollars in funding, the taxpayers of Beaufort County need to band together and begin the process of replacing school board members, one by one.
