Carers asked for input into Carers Allowance Overpayments Review

Dear All,

We have a rare opportunity to be able to provide our stories to the Independent review of Carers Allowance Overpayments.

We have been asked by the Department for Work and Pensions to provide our responses to the following questions:

1. What is the impact of Carer’s Allowance overpayments on carers and the people they support?
2. How well do DWP processes for CA work? 
3. Are they clearly communicated and easy to follow?
4. How do carers feel they are treated? 
5. Are the DWP processes easy to advise people about?  
6. Could it be improved?
7. Is the approach to averaging earnings clear and consistent, and could it be improved? 
8. Are expenses clearly understood and could this be improved?
9. How does Carer’s Allowance work for the self-employed and could this be improved?
10. Does DWP strike the right balance between flexibility and consistency in administering Carer's Allowance? 
11. Could this be improved?
12. What can best be done to support those who have accrued overpayments?

We may not get another chance to get involved, I urge you all to copy the questions into an email and provide your responses to leo@nucuf.com. We will collate your responses and send them to the review board.
