This petition will show the school board how much support we really have on the issue of the dress code. In the dress code, there are recurring themes of outdated ideology and reasoning. We not only learn math and history in the school system, but we learn how to function in society. We learn how to treat others and what role people play in a community. If we normalize the ideas that girls bodies are something we must hide avoid attention, that is going to stick in peoples mind for the rest of their minds. If we see females at a young age having to dress a certain way because of how others objectify them, those beliefs are not going to end at the school system. They carry on into how people view women's roles in society. We propose changes in the dress code for many reasons including, but not limited to, the inequality of how it is enforced by body type, how apparel has changed in the society to make certain once-prohibited styles appropriate, and how it uses the same logic that has been rejected elsewhere.
