In an exclusive Compassion Over Killing video, NYC vegan food connoisseur and dedicated COK volunteer Matt Marshall heads to a Manhattan-based Dunkin’ to try out its new Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich -- then leaves the donut giant to grab a vegan donut elsewhere! We were so excited about the recent campaign progress of Dunkin’ partnering with Beyond Meat to roll out vegan breakfast sausage patties at its Manhattan locations (with plans to expand nationwide) that we just had to get out there and try the new menu offering! It was easy for Matt to order the Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich as vegan by asking for no egg or cheese -- “simple, but delicious!” You could even order it with hash browns for another layer of vegan goodness. 

But in order to enjoy a sweet treat while he finished his dairy-free coffee after trying the new sandwich, Matt had to LEAVE Dunkin’, one of America’s top donut chains, to head up the street for a vegan donut!

While the vegan breakfast sandwich is a delicious addition and we applaud Dunkin’s step in the right direction, it’s still missing out on a massive opportunity without its own vegan donut: Nigel Travis, former CEO of Dunkin’ Brands, has previously noted that the most common add-on purchase for Dunkin’s customers is a donut -- even if the only other item they purchased was a donut! 

Especially as conscious consumers are increasingly seeking out more compassionate alternatives, imagine how many customers (like Matt) Dunkin’ is missing out on by failing to offer a vegan sweet treat!
