Mailbox was an independent mail solution for iOS created as a (good!) alternative to the integrated iOS mail application. Two years ago it was acquired by Dropbox. A year ago, a Mac version was created and left in permanent beta. Many of us have come to rely on Mailbox as our main mail application on both iOS and OS X. Left with no good alternative, we suffered through its bugs, issues, and lack of support. Not to mention, Mailbox for iOS was a premium app that we all purchased and expected ongoing support for.  Today, Dropbox has announced they will not only stop development on Mailbox but shutter it for good on February 26th. All functionality will stop and any unsaved or transferred data will be destroyed.  This is a plea to Dropbox to open-source Mailbox. Let the community who loves it take it into it's next life. As a community, we will find a way to manage and maintain it. Please Dropbox, do not kill our favorite Mail app. Let us adopt it.
