Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) is about to embark on a green belt assessment (GBA) for the entirety of Epping Forest to decide what green belt land can be reclassified as grey belt and therefore built on more easily.

EFDC has commissioned Arup to do this, a consultancy who help build all manner of things, including notably data centres. 

Arup are already currently consulting for the developers who are trying to build a data centre on green belt land (Roding Lane) between Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill. 

There is a clear and obvious direct financial conflict of interest here. Arup cannot be trusted to be impartial in their GBA and the entirety of the Epping Forest constituency is at risk.

This petition calls for Epping Forest District Council to :

1. Drop Arup - Do not commission Arup to do the green belt assessment.
2. Do the GBA themselves - Avoid conflicts of interest and do the assessment in-house.
