Whereas Dr. Luis Valentino circumvented human resources' procedures to hire Jason Martinez who is facing six felony counts of sexual assault on a child(1,2);

Whereas Dr. Luis Valentino demonstrated through inappropriate use of text messaging that he is more interested in working with Secratary of Education Hanna Skandera than with the Albuquerque Public Schools' Board of Education(3,4);

Whereas Dr. Luis Valentino's continued presence as the leader of the largest school district in New Mexico is drawing negative national attention to the district AND distracting from the important work of teaching and learning;

We, the students, parents, teachers, and community members of Albuquerque implore Dr. Luis Valentino to resign his position as Superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools and to seek no further compensation from the district.
