Eric underwent liver transplant surgery on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, he was too ill to survive the surgery. Eric passed away peacefully in Edmonton with his wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law at his side. Thank you to everyone for all your support. Aimee read each of your messages to Eric. He was so moved by all the kindness shown by each one of you. He passed away knowing he was cared for and loved, even by people who didn't know him personally. If ever there was a reason to end the 6-month wait and rehab requirements for liver transplant surgery, it is Eric. He wanted so badly to be healthy and strong again, to be back with his family. It is time for our society to treat addictions and mental illness with more care and respect.
