Many of you are ex-Defence Force members or are relatives of those who served in the Defence Force.
Accordingly, you would be aware of the honour of war and/or service medals worn by those who served.
In the eyes of veterans, nothing is worse than seeing men wearing medals they never earned and aren't entitled to.
'Medal-cheats' strip away honour.
If it concerns you at all that men do this (and especially men who know better) than you might feel inclined to view another on-line petition at:
https://www.change.org/p/the-attorney-general-of-queensland-do-not-allow-a-medal-cheat-to-create-a-legal-precedcent
It concerns a Brisbane man (Alan Price, of Algester) who served for just a few months in Vietnam and was entitled to wear one medal from that war- but chose to bulk up his medal rack by illegally adding to it. It makes him a military imposter.
He was named and shamed on the ANZMI site for doing so.
It is also a federal offence- but even though Price admitted the offence, the Queensland Police Service refused to take action against him.
In short, this means that in Queensland, anyone can now wear war medals they weren't awarded and not be charged.
The Alan Price matter has created a legal precedent.
It is now open slather.
This petition is to the Queensland Attorney-General in an endeavour to correct this practice by putting Alan Price before the courts like they did the Hinze brothers a year or two ago.
