Just an advice to the effect that I have ensured Dr Brendan Nelson OA now has a personal copy of 'Anzacs Betrayed' (which he requested) containing all the evidence relating to the 2nd D&E Platoon. The Australian War Memorial now also has a copy, which he assured me would be included in the Memorial's Collection. While he is still pondering this matter, I thought I'd share with you an extract from the national historian's own volume on the Vietnam War- 'Fighting to the Finish' (Allen&Unwin)....P. 142.......It is attached. I also made him aware that when I visited the Memorial recently I was very interested to notice that the only movie images being displayed from the Vietnam War were in black and white. Yet- in 1996, I had donated 45 minutes of colour movie footage I had shot in the war to the Memorial, valued at more than $90,000. It showed the men of the 4th and 9th Battalions actually in the jungle going about their duties and showed them on patrol, receiving resupplies of men, rations and ammunition, an air strike by US Phantoms, spraying of Agent Orange and even on leave in Vung Tau. (I took that camera everywhere)! I queried him as to why that footage wasn't being displayed. He didn't have an answer. If you are interested in real footage from the war, in cloud, I have posted various extracts on Youtube. Just type in 'Don Tate, Vietnam'.....there are about four or five segments.
