Here is an excerpt from the cover letter sent to our Health Authorities. We are still waiting.

"I believe that Mission Raceway Park has fallen between the cracks in our Provincial Pandemic Response. This was brought to light for me actually last year while using my RV at our many camping facilities in BC, I've been upset since then that my recreational choice was halted.

I would bring to your attention a well supported petition (https://www.change.org/Mission-Raceway-Safe ) which I created to bring awareness to a situation which I find inequitable regarding today's pandemic measures. The petition message body speaks for itself and is not meant to be confrontational or damning to anyone. I simply thought this the best way to bring attention without involving other media avenues. You will notice I did not turn on the petition mass email function to bombard anyone.

I believe there are many misconceptions about Dragracing in general. IE: how we do it and the high level of organization already existing; what it means to participants as recreational mental health; how it assists the local economy; who the people are that race and so much more. Racers are also used to following rules and technical guidelines, it's an inherent part of our sport. IE: If you don't follow track rules your day will be over; no alcohol while competing; don't come to lanes until called; vehicle safety. As an avid RV park user I can't say the same about Provincial and Private Parks when I see ATV's or watercraft all over the facility doing as they please, people drinking all day/night and shoulder to shoulder camp sites in some areas. MRP has ample security enforcement for policing where RV parks do not. Please come see for yourself or send someone that understands what we racers do, we are more than happy to do a show and tell.

As I understand Mission Raceway Park Management has submitted a Pandemic Operation Plan and has been waiting for a response for quite a while. Time is of the essence when a limited race season is upon us. This facility needs its participants to continue thriving and make improvements for it's users.

I would welcome the opportunity to explain further and in more detail if need be. Ultimately it is the Management of Mission Raceway Park that makes the operational decisions, I am just a frustrated person who has identified an inequitable situation which I believe can easily be rectified. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
