Save Bob the Endangered Carnaby Cockatoo

The Issue

Doreen Jones has had Robert the carnaby cockatoo for 4 years since he was found as a young bird with barbed wire embedded in his wing. Blair street vet clinic removed the wire and found that Bob's muscles in that area were dead, so it was scraped. The Department of Parks and Wildlife now wish to remove Bob from Doreen's care to add him to a breeding program. To be able to be a breeding bird bob needs to reach a nesting hollow to feed his chicks, WHICH HE CAN NOT DO. Doreen has been a carer for 33 years and has managed  2 wildlife parks in the past, she has a vast knowledge of wildlife health, behaviour and care. Bob was registered onto an AV license and has been educating the public for 4 years, only NOW do they want to remove bob from Doreen's care. I know this bird PERSONALLY, he CAN NOT be released and he can not be bred from. Bob loves to go out and educate people- so many people have learnt about Carnaby Cockatoo's and how to help them because of Doreen and Bob.
Doreen works closely with our regional cockatoo sanctuary and has sent many cockatoos to breeding programs in the past.
Doreen and Bob have developed a special bond, and removing Bob from her care will result in mental distress and physical behaviour issues.
