Remove Crown Land Camping Prohibition Immediately

Remove Crown Land Camping Prohibition Immediately
The Issue
In Ontario we have 39 million hectares of Crown land that is free and open for the residents of Canada to use and enjoy. Camping is both an integral aspect of our history and of our current recreational culture. Given the amount of crown land, there can be no sensible reason to prohibit camping province-wide due to Covid-19. Personally, I could walk less than a minute from my door and be 100% alone in the woods; it is absolutely absurd that camping in isolated spaces is being prohibited. Although Canadians are a diverse people, I think it can be said that this prohibition is anti-Canadian in spirit. If there is an issue with people spreading covid-19 in Southern Ontario while camping, adjust the rules and regulations accordingly; it certainly isn't an issue in the rest of the province.
Northern Ontario encompasses an area that is 806,707 square kilometres in size, most of which has significant amounts of crown land that can be camped on freely for up to 21 days at a time. Northern Ontario is generally sparsely populated with only around 700,000 people.
Southern Ontario is only 139,931 square kilometres with a population of over 12 million people.
Clearly, Southern Ontario is making the rules for the rest of us at our expense.
Stay safe, wear a mask, wash your hands, get vaccinated.
