Sept. 19, 2022 Tarion closed its office because of the Queen's passing. But the Ford government did not give Ontarians the day off. That was nice for Tarion employees but what about homeowners counting on Tarion?
This weekend CPBH volunteers are working on multiple Ontario homeowner files involving mould that have become a crisis for these families. Family members are facing serious health impacts due to Code violations and mould. These homeowners' files have been dragging on with Tarion for years.
Despite all of the independent reports about serious issues at Tarion (e.g., from Justice Cunningham and the Auditor General of Ontario), and all of the promises made by the ON Government of the day, these are current examples of situations that CPBH volunteers continue to hear about and work on to try to help.
Families are in crisis just because they bought a newly built home (with code violations) and inadequate consumer protection. The impact on these families is gut-wrenching.
It could be you, or child, your parent, your neighbour next.
