Venus Lopez and hundreds of people have been sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, but there is no more possibility of parole for people receiving a life sentence.

Arizona abolished the chance for parole before Venus was even sentenced. All these years she has been expecting to go home, for them to tell her she may fall through the cracks. Clemency may be her only option and the likelihood of clemency as we all know is small. Venus has done amazing things with her time incarcerated, education,mentoring,good behavior. She was my mentor, I have been released for one month and I have 2 jobs, and enrolled in community College and I owe the strength and belief to Venus. I just want as many people as possible to know the criminal justice system is flawed in Arizona! A change needs to happen with the legislation, these people need their day in front of a parole board to decide their fate. Venus never physically harmed anyone in her crime, but regardless someone was killed and even though she didn't pull the trigger she lives with the guilt as if she did, and vowed to change her life and help others to change theirs. Please review her story and tell everyone you know. We must make noise to raise AWARENESS!
