Cignal Ireland are proposing the erection of a large telecommunications mast in the Ramelton area. The proposed mast will serve a number of Telecom's functions and it is unclear what further purposes it will serve in the future. Planning permission is sought via Donegal county council and is still subject to approval. Works however on access to the location have already taken place before any decisions have been made. We the people of Ramelton, Co Donegal seek to object to the erection of any such mast at every stage possible for a number of reasons mainly on lack of transparency on what the current erection means for the locality in terms of health risks, local benefit from the mast in terms of improving quality of life, the environmental aspect  regarding the natural area where site is proposed and finally human rights of the people of Ramelton to live without fear or doubt of how they're families will be affected by ever changing technologies in the Telecom's sector. The site itself is a popular beauty spot often frequented by locals and visitors alike. We feel the mast does not bring any quality of life benefit to locals and is in fact serving only the cignal Ireland group in a positive manner. Therefore we are creating awareness and support further objection of said planning application.
