The government of Romania will hold a referendum through which it seeks to backtrack on the constitutional definition of family.

(1) Familia se întemeiază pe căsătoria liber consimţită între soţi, pe egalitatea acestora şi pe dreptul şi îndatorirea părinţilor de a asigura creşterea, educaţia şi instruirea copiilor.

(1) The family is built on the willing marriage between spouses, on the equality between them and on the rights and responsibilities of the parents to raise, educate, and teach their children.

The proposed change is redefining it as being built solely on the willing marriage between a man and a woman. This change would bring further harm upon the social development of a nation that already struggles to fit within the European Union's demands.
