Tear down that wall of invasive trees Mr Trump!

The Issue

Should a single corporatation or individual be able to impose it's will, changing the quality of life for an entire community, all for corporate greed?  We hope that is not what is happeneing here in Doral.

1.The safety of our children and Doral Park residents is at stake!  Experts say crime will be going up.

2.Planting invasive trees, such as fish tail palms by the hundreds, even in front of our elementary school is socially irresponsible.

Many residents have legitimately asked why Doral residents are organizing. Is it about the trees that Mr. Trump is planting on the golf course? The answer is yes but not quite.

While some may think that this is just about protecting the value of the homes on the golf courses, the truth is that there is more to it than meets the eye. This movement is about maintaining the open-concept aesthetics of our communities. It is about preserving the meaning of “Park” in Doral Park, the ample and relaxing atmosphere that living on a park provides. It is about defending our quality of life and preserving the aesthetical identity of our young City of Doral.

It is about not having to live exposed to an invasive species that, according to experts, bears a toxic fruit that when in contact with the skin may have severe consequences for our children and folks of all ages not to mention pets. It is about environmental responsibility.

This movement is about refusing to be bullied. It is about walking the walk and showing our children that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in and take a stand, no matter how difficult it may be. It is about our dignity and not giving up to fear and threats. It is about creating genuine content that no well-heeled PR machinery can drown. It is about beautiful sunsets and other things that money cannot buy.

As cliché and naïve as it may sound, it is about something simple and at the same time very difficult: doing the right thing for its own sake.

It is about learning to overcome our petty differences and come together as a community. It is about tolerance and inclusion. It is about rediscovering your neighbors and the power of civil society. Yes, it is difficult and we face many challenges. But it is better than the alternative.

This non-partisan movement is about understanding and exercising our civic responsibilities. It is about demanding that our elected officials step up to the plate. It is about holding them accountable. We demand leadership and integrity.

This movement is also about demanding more from private organizations such as the various homeowner organizations of our communities. This requires us all to get more actively involved in our own communities. We all lead busy lives and have many personal matters to deal with. We would much rather dedicate our time to something else. However, if we want to remain the masters of our fate, circumstances require us to get more involved.

In these days of instant gratification, this is about taking the long view. It is about overcoming widespread cynicism.

Staying on the sidelines is not an option. Whatever your do, get involved and participate. Your contribution will make a difference.

3.We understand that Trump Resorts wants to increase the value of their property, but at whose expense?  Our community was built with a natural open plan, how can you ruin the view of hundreds of residence for the single gain the Trump Resorts?
