Pass Students Fall 2020

Pass Students Fall 2020

The Issue

The coronavirus is causing panic and fear around the world. Not only that, but it is increasing stress levels in adults and students who already have a hard time during a normal school year. There are many students have had family members and friends pass away or get the virus, yet they still persevered through it and did what they're expected to do. Depression and anxiety has taken over, as well as an overwhelming amount of isolation.

This isn't just a generalization. This has happened to people around me, as well as to myself. Over and over again. I'm an Illinois student in my senior year of high school, and I can tell you that I am not effectively learning. We get hours of homework after being stuck on a screen all day, and we're expected to stay motivated and strong. Even for those who have less hours online, staying motivated and focused can be challenging.

We're all humans, not robots. There have been some mistakes, but people can learn from those with a second chance. Which is why this is directed to the governors of all states, territories, and islands that are considered apart of the United States. I'm also reaching out to the President, Vice President, and their administration. I hope the Department Of Education will step in, specifically Betsy Devos.

Not only should high school students be given a pass for this, but college and university students alike. None of us asked to be in a pandemic, but I am asking all of you to consider passing students in your state or voiding their grades for the Fall 2020 semester. Parents, students, teachers, or anyone who agrees with me, please sign and share this petition. Don't be afraid to make a petition for your state, city, or school as well. Speak out. Thank you for reading.
