As a native  of Georgia I am fighting  for  mine and many others  rights for the carving  of the Confederate Soldiers to remain  as is! Monument's  have been removed or vandalized,  graves   of soldiers have been desecrated by random  criminals on more then one occasion . To me  that is a new low. You don't  disrespect the deceased  that is unacceptable in my eyes! This mountain has over 4 million  people  visit  a year. Myself  and my family  included.  My children  and myself  as well grew up going  to this Mountain  all our lives . Never   once did we look at it as glorifying slavery  nor will we ever  point blank.  We see gray areas  as well. We don't  see the cup half empty,  we see it as half full! A lot of individuals  will give Stone Mountain  a bad reputation to no surprise.  However  to simply  take all the bad and not see good is not fair. I know the past actions  done at Stone Mountain  aren't  the best to  say the least  but every place  has a history  as well as people  and no one perfect  by far. Stone Mountain  has came a long  way  as far as the criminal  acts  that went on there many years ago.  However to simply  demand  that we remove  the carvings  is wrong, dead wrong! I personally stand against  it and anyone  who is for the blasting  of the Mountain. We do have  laws  that protect  that Mountain!!! History  is what it is!Yes it is sad and heartbreaking.  Slavery  is wrong  all ways  has been  and always  will be to me.  At the same time  if you take  away that craving, you also take  away the laser show along  with many other beautiful  things  that this place  has to offer, this is what makes  it beautiful  and peaceful! This mountain  has been here for millions  of year's  and I hope it continues  to be here. For my grandchildren to go enjoy  without  all the chaos  that has been brought  to it recently. When you look at history  don't  just take the bad out. As you go through  life every day  you try  to find the best or good in every  bad situation  or your simply just get lost in the negativity.  Please  help me fight for this Mountain. It is the best memories  I have with my mom. No one is forced  to go this Mountain.  You go by choice! Just like with a church  that has monument's  of Jesus  of Virgin Mary.  We all make the choice  whether  or not to attend.  This Mountain  is our Mountain  and we will fight for this till the very last breath.  PLEASE READ SIGN AND SHARE!!!
