Many men and women are suffering extreme psychological abuse at the hands of narcissists, psychopaths, and other mentally, verbally abusive people who are not diagnosed or refuse/deny that they are abusive. Many victims end up with depression, PTSD, anxiety, and other psychological disorders related to the tactics of the psychological abuser. Most psychological abusers use techniques such as gaslighting, brainwashing, blameshifting, verbal abuse, devaluation/invalidation of feelings, lovebombing, discarding, punishing, silent treatment, withholding affection, sabotaging, etc. to take from the victim in order to isolate and ultimately cause severe psychological and physical harm. Many lose careers, are isolated, controlled and manipulated to the extent of seeing no way out as there are no laws for protective orders against this type of abuse. Domestic/workplace violence is largely defined as an act that causes physical harm, but does not protect against psychological harm that can take years for full/partial recovery. Most victims have the same story of their abusers tactics. Many abusers do not physically abuse so they will not be ‘found out’ or have their image marred. They resort to psychological abuse which again can result in a myriad of psychiatric disorders and many are so hopeless, in their fight to be believed and escape, that they commit suicide. Please help in expanding the definition of domestic/workplace violence by adding mental, verbal, emotional, and financial abuse to its definition and instituting the same rights as victims  of physical abuse. It is imperative that the issue of psychological abuse be addressed and recognized so that victims have hope of protection. Please expand the laws of protection, criminal charges, compensation for losses, and punishment to psychological abusers as is imposed upon physical abusers.
