The recall petition to remove Mayor Margo from office was submitted to the city clerk’s office on August 10, 2018 to include issues that affect all sectors of the El Paso (Texas) community. We have less than 60 days to gather 7,000 signatures. #RecallDee

Here are the reasons:

1. Acted numerous times to support expenditures and incur debt in contravention of representation made to El Pasoans that he is a fiscal conservative who holds the line on tax increases.

2. Supported increased taxation by imposing a new tax on utilities only on residential users.

3. Repeatedly declined to veto City Council increases of QOL bond project budgets and scope beyond the amount approved by voters.

4. Failed to preserve government records by using personal email to conduct City business and failed to forward those personal emails to IT or his city account.

5. Selectively enforced 3-minute limit on speakers during Call to the Public and failed to maintain decorum by allowing derogatory speech targeting members of the public.

6. Continuing to perpetuate the false notion that El Pasoans approved and overwhelmingly voted to construct a sports arena in downtown, when the voters were misinformed of the intent behind proposition 2 of the QOL bond election.

7. Missing public funds and legal resources to quash lawful citizen efforts to be heard by causing the preemptive rejection of citizens' petitions, filing unnecessary and dilatory motions in legal proceedings and bringing pressure or causing pressure to be brought against individual citizen activists.
