Greetings, friends! While this past year met with some highs and lows, our group continues its work to save the Fishkill Supply Depot Revolutionary War site from destruction at the hands of a strip mall, boutique hotel, and IHOP restaurant. Here were the highlights:
April: The Fishkill Planning Board declared that the construction of the strip mall would have no detrimental impact on the archaeological, environmental, or other aspects of the site, thereby clearing a path to overall approval of the commercial development proposal.
November: A brand-new Town Supervisor was elected largely on a platform that called for the Fishkill Supply Depot to be saved from commercial development.
December: The Fishkill Planning Board issued its conditional approval of the commercial development proposal, leaving the critical issues of water & sewer to be decided.
February: The new Town Supervisor calls for a 3-month suspension of all decisions concerning water & sewer for the proposed development, thereby giving our group more time to fine tune arguments against water & sewer permitting.
With legal fees mounting, our group asks you to consider donating to help us preserve our Revolutionary War heritage and defeat the forces of unchecked (and unnecessary) commercial development! All donations received will be used to obtain the very legal advice/services that our group needs to protect the Fishkill Supply Depot site from irreversible destruction.
Donations can be made on-line or by check. Please visit the donation page of our website ( fishkillsupplydepot.org ) for details. While you're there, please browse through some of the other very informative pages of our website to learn more about us and the Fishkill Supply Depot.
As always, we would appreciate if you could share the link to this petition with your friends, family, and co-workers, as we would really love to hit the 100,000 signers mark!
