Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot
Feb 11, 2019

Hello all of you intrepid, and greatly appreciated supporters of the Fishkill Supply Depot (FSD)!  It's been about a year since we last contacted you, and that's because things moved at a glacial pace in 2018 as far as our local planning board making a decision on whether to allow a proposed "development" (i.e. destruction/desecration) of the FSD to proceed.  Not that we (the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot) have been idle - we continue to work on informing the locals of the tragic loss of our unique historical gem that would occur if the development is approved.  And we continue to gain more and more supporters, but there have not been a lot of front-page news events to report to you since last winter.

Now, however, the local planning board is scheduled to have its last public meeting to discuss the Final Environmental Assessment Form for the Continental Commons development prior to making their big decision on whether to approve it.  That meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7:00 pm at the Fishkill Town Hall (807 Route 52).  We are therefore fervently pleading for all those individuals who live in the area and appreciate history (and the country's first veterans who are buried at the FSD) to show up and wear a complimentary "Stop Continental Commons" T-shirt to let the planning board know exactly where you stand on the issue!  We will be handing the T-shirts out at the door.

And to all of you who live too far away to reasonably attend the meeting, we would gratefully encourage you to:  1) call the Town of Fishkill Planning Board (845-831-7800 ext. 3328 and [preferrably] ask to speak to the Chairperson Mary Hendricks); or  2) email them via the planning board's page of the Town of Fishkill website ( http://www.fishkill-ny.gov );  or  3) send a letter to the Town of Fishkill Planning Board, 807 Route 52, Fishkill, NY  12524,  to voice your strong opposition to the Continental Commons development that would desecrate our national heritage!  Of course, we are always looking to increase the number of our Change.org petition signers, so please encourage any of your friends, family members, coworkers, etc. who haven't already signed to please do so.

Thank you as always for your loyal support - with your help, we can win this noble battle!
