Don't Let the City of Loveland Force 45 People in Recovery Into the Streets — Suspend the SuPEERior Connections Vacate Order Now

Mayor Patrick McFall and the Loveland City Council

Petition Description (paste this exactly into the "Why this is important" box):

SuPEERior Connections - Loveland is a residential recovery and wellness program at 914 W. 6th St, Loveland, CO. We house 45 participants — men and women in recovery from substance use disorder, opioid addiction, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Many are enrolled in Wellness Court, a judge-supervised recovery program that requires stable housing as a condition of participation.

On July 6, 2026, the City of Loveland issued a vacate order giving all 45 residents just 14 days to leave — by July 22, 2026.

Before that order was issued, our leadership did everything the law requires:

✅ We submitted a formal Interim Life Safety Plan — a real, practical proposal to address safety concerns while residents remained housed.

✅ We submitted a Reasonable Accommodation Request under the Fair Housing Act — a federal law that REQUIRES the City to work WITH protected-class residents before displacing them.

The City rejected or ignored both proposals. No cure period. No hearing. No alternative offered. Just: get out by July 22.

Here is what happens to real people if this order stands:

🔒 Wellness Court participants will be returned to CUSTODY or placed on WORK RELEASE — not because they violated their program, but because they lost the stable housing their court agreement requires.

🏕️ Others will be on the STREETS — there is no shelter or transitional housing that can absorb 45 people on 14 days' notice.

💊 Many residents are on medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone, Methadone). Displacement breaks that chain immediately — no stable address means no clinic access, no medication, no recovery.

📋 Without an address, residents lose Medicaid, SNAP, mental health services, and prescriptions.

💔 Sudden displacement from a recovery environment is a documented risk factor for fatal overdose. This is not hypothetical. This is what the research shows happens.

Our residents are a federally protected class under the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The City was legally required to engage with us — to consider our safety plan, to process our accommodation request, to offer a path to remedy. They refused.

We are asking the Loveland community and everyone who believes in human dignity and equal justice to sign this petition and demand that the City of Loveland:

Immediately suspend the July 22, 2026 vacate order
Engage in the required Fair Housing Act reasonable accommodation process
Allow SuPEERior Connections to present and implement an Interim Life Safety Plan
Provide a reasonable compliance timeline rather than displacement
Contact the City Council directly: 📧 ccouncil@cityofloveland.org 📞 (970) 962-2199

These are real people. Real recovery. Real lives. Please sign and share.
