PETITION TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF TUCKER:

Demand Action Now: Approve and Fully Fund the Outdoor Pickleball Facility at Tucker Recreation Center

To:
Mayor Frank Auman,
Members of the Tucker City Council,
City of Tucker Leadership

We, the undersigned residents, voters, and active supporters of the Tucker community, urgently call upon our city leadership to act with courage, clarity, and integrity by bringing the Tucker Recreation Center (TRC) Pickleball Facility project to an immediate public vote and ensuring its full funding and timely completion.

For too long, this transformative project has been stalled by disinformation, fringe legal threats, and political evasion. Opponents have misled the public with unsubstantiated claims about noise and property values, relying on questionable sources while ignoring extensive, peer-reviewed medical and environmental research. In fact, credible data shows no connection between ambient pickleball noise and adverse health effects. The data on ambient noise from similar recreational sites shows clearly that the TRC location is appropriate and manageable.

What’s more disturbing is the willingness of some of our city officials to be intimidated by a small group of vocal detractors, allowing the interests of a few to override the needs, voices, and well-being of the many. This is not leadership — this is surrender.

Pickleball is more than a sport. It is a proven tool for promoting:

  • Community health and social connection, especially among our 50+ population
  • Economic growth for Main Street businesses
  • Activation of underutilized public land at low environmental cost
  • Local spending and civic engagement

The TRC site is the best natural and fiscal fit — adjacent to existing recreational infrastructure, requiring no tree removal, and with minimal disruption to surrounding areas. Delaying this project further because of fear or indecision is not “due diligence” — it is governance by inertia.

We demand:

A public vote on the TRC Pickleball Facility now.
Full funding and expedited construction of the courts as previously planned.
Transparency from city officials on all studies, correspondence, and rationale behind delays.
A commitment to fact-based decision-making, not fear-based obstruction.

The residents of Tucker are watching. We vote. We pay taxes. We support local leagues. We are empty nesters mostly with disposable income to make existing Main Street Business thrive and jump start new business on Lavista Corridor. We play in neighboring cities because we have no adequate courts in our own. We are tired of being ignored while misinformation reigns.

Tucker deserves better. We deserve action.

Sign this petition to show your support for a healthier, more vibrant, and inclusive Tucker — and let your elected officials know: It’s time to lead, not retreat.
