Don't Close Hersheypark This Summer - Give Workers a Fair Deal
The Issue
Hersheypark — Pennsylvania's largest amusement park, open since 1906 — could be forced to close this summer before it even begins its busiest season. Not because of safety concerns, natural disaster, or financial collapse. Because Hershey Entertainment & Resorts has refused to give its skilled workers a fair contract.
Over 200 union maintenance employees — ride mechanics, electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, machinists, and more — have now rejected three consecutive contract offers from the park's operators. Workers are seeking fair wage increases, more affordable healthcare, and better pay for less-desirable shifts. They have also drawn a clear line: they will not accept contracts that devalue skilled trades or lower professional standards for the people responsible for keeping millions of visitors safe on more than 70 rides every summer.
Hershey Entertainment & Resorts called their latest proposal their "last, best and final" offer. Workers disagreed. They are now voting on whether to strike — a vote that could shut down the park just as families across Pennsylvania and beyond are planning their summer vacations.
These are not unskilled workers. They are the people who inspect the rides your children get on. They keep the lights on, the water running, and the park functioning. They deserve to be paid accordingly.
Hershey Entertainment & Resorts has the resources to do right by its workers. Sign this petition to demand they return to the table with a contract that reflects the skill, dedication, and safety responsibility of the people who make
