The unjust and brutal systemic extermination of Palestinian civilians-facilitated with US tax payer dollars-haunts my conscience, and evokes an urgent need for change. According to Euro Med Monitor, 42,000 Palestinians have been Killed since October 2023, 39,000 of them innocent civilians, most of which are children. The majority of our country cries out for a ceasefire and a diplomatic resolution to the incessant conflict. Yet, our concerns have been swept under the rug by leadership, leaving an indelible stain on Joe Biden's legacy. Now, we place our hope in Kamala Harris. As president, she bears the potential to redirect our nation's course, away from the path of destruction.

We call on Kamala Harris to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the genocide taking place, and the recognition of a free Palestinian state along the 1967 borders on the first day of her presidency. This long-standing ordeal traces its roots back to 1947 when the UN General Assembly passed Resolution 181 proposing a partition into two states (United Nations, 1947). Over seven decades later, the situation continues to teeter on the brink of chaos with more lives being lost each day to violence and bloodshed.

Our appeal rests not merely upon a desire for peace, but upon respect for international law. The Green Line, representing the 1967 borders, is recognized by the world community and endorsed by the Arab League as the basis for a two-state solution (BBC, 2021). Instituting these borders can pave the way for peaceful co-existence.
