Don’t Approve the Everett Stadium Without Protecting Boston Communities

The Issue

A 25,000-seat soccer stadium is being pushed forward in Everett — but the people who’ll pay the price live across the river in Boston. The Kraft Group wants to build a major stadium next to the Mystic River, directly impacting Charlestown and surrounding neighborhoods that are already battling traffic, poor air quality, and unsafe streets.

Mayor Michelle Wu asked for the basics: a plan for transportation, noise, jobs, and environmental impact. Instead, the city of Boston was offered $750,000 in “mitigation” — just 1.1% of what was paid out for the nearby Everett casino. It’s not just disrespectful. It’s dangerous. This stadium would send thousands of cars and fans through Sullivan Square, a transit nightmare where many families already fear for their safety on foot.

Charlestown is not a pass-through. These neighborhoods are not collateral damage.

We are calling on state lawmakers, city officials, and the Kraft Group to immediately halt this stadium project unless Boston’s impacted communities are given a seat at the table and a serious, binding investment in safety, infrastructure, and transparency. If they can’t do that, then the stadium should not be built — not here, not now, not like this.

Development without consent is harm. Rushing a stadium through while ignoring the families, workers, and children whose daily lives will be affected is unacceptable.

Add your name if you believe no stadium should move forward until Boston’s communities are heard, protected, and prioritized — not pushed aside.
