Dangerous E-Bike Accidents

My son, Dominiq, was only 13 years old when he lost his life while riding an e-bike after being involved in an accident with a truck.

Dominiq was full of life. He loved to cook, make people smile, and live fearlessly. He was adventurous, loving, and deeply loved by his family and everyone who knew him. No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child in a preventable accident.

As e-bikes become faster, more powerful, and more common among children and teenagers, safety laws have not kept up. Many parents are unaware of the risks these bikes can pose, especially when sharing roads with vehicles. Children are riding high-speed e-bikes without enough protection, training, regulation, or accountability some children have passengers without proper gear with parental knowledge and not both parents are aware.

We are calling for the creation of “Dom’s Law” to help protect children and prevent more families from suffering unimaginable loss.

We urge California lawmakers and local leaders to support stronger e-bike safety measures for minors, including:

• Enforcement of Mandatory helmet laws for all minors riding e-bikes
• Age restrictions for high-speed e-bikes 18 and older 
• Required safety education or certification for young riders
• Speed limitations wider lanes for drivers 
• Stronger enforcement against illegal modifications and unsafe riding
• Increased public awareness about e-bike safety and traffic dangers
• Improved roadway protections for bike riders in high-traffic areas such as Bullard and palm 

• Parental accountability 

•Wider and safer bike lanes 

•Holding drivers accountable for road safety when at fault 

•License or permit to drive or operate E bikes 

People in the community want our kids to understand road rules and regulations therefore I feel as if these bikes age limit would be considered as well as prohibited for minors my son is a testimony on why “ DOMS LAW “ should be strongly encouraged 

This movement is not about taking bikes away from kids. It is about saving lives.

Dominiq mattered. His life mattered. His story deserves to create change.
