Hillary Holt started this petition to Dominic Perrottet (Premier of NSW)

Since restrictions on mandatory masks, QR code check ins and capacity limits in public spaces and indoor settings have been scrapped, the number of Covid-19 cases has skyrocketed as the Omicron variant spreads throughout the community.

Hospitals are now on “Red Alert”, Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant is pleading with the public to continue to wear masks, and Health Minister Brad Hazzard admits he is expecting 25,000 cases per day by the end of January 2022.

For those of us who have been vaccinated where medically possible, followed the rules and restrictions and endured the lockdown, we cannot accept that such simple measures have been scrapped based purely on a “promise” to do so BEFORE Omicron arrived in Australia and was clearly understood.

Wearing a mask, checking into a venue and adhering to adequate capacity limits are all simple and easy ways of limiting the risk of transmission and should be reinstated immediately. Acting too little too late is what sent this state into lockdown last time. The time to act is NOW.

As the mother of two young children, including a baby with incurable Congenital Heart Disease, both of which are too young to be vaccinated, reinstating these rules will allow me to better protect my family from Covid-19. This is not only in our best interests but in the interests of all the people of NSW.
