Stephanie Ackley started this petition to State Senator Lew Frederick and

Roscoe was my fur child. He wasn't just a pet, he was family. He turned 2 on May 9th and he enjoyed a cheeseburger, ice cream and a personal pool for the backyard. Just 11 days later he died a tragic death on May 20th and in his honor I am fighting to change the law on how they view our fur children just as personal property and not family members. Please support myself and Roscoe by signing this petition.

"He was everything we wanted, he was perfect" That is what my Husband keeps saying over and over and he is right. Roscoe was so smart, goofy, loveable and stubborn. Roscoe could hear my car when I came home from work and he would always be by the front door waiting to welcome me home, he had this goofy dance and wiggle he would do when he was excited. We would often call him Stuart from Mad TV "look what I can do!"

He absolutely loved the car and he would go anywhere with me even if it was to 7-11. He loved hanging his head out the window and so many times I would hear people say "man, look at him. He is handsome!" Roscoe knew it too.

He went to the Beach with us last July and loved every minute of it. He made friends with a real crab and was upset when Grandpa took it away from him.

Roscoe knew his feeding times were 7am, 1pm and 7pm. He would bring his bowl to us and drop it to make the loud "clang!" sound. One of us would feed him but as soon as we left the room he would take his bowl to the other parent and try to get second helpings. He absolutely loved chips and I always got a kick out of the crunch it made when he took it.

Our family became more connected because of Roscoe and he was always making us laugh. He loved playing in the dirt and helping us level the yard for our backyard pool. He loved to sit on Morgan's lap if she was on the floor. If she was on the couch he would wiggle so slowly from his spot to lay with her.

At night he would go and get his blanket from his crate and drag it into our room to lay down, when we fell asleep he would go upstairs to his favorite spot on the couch.
We always felt safe with Roscoe, we knew he would protect our family. His bark was so scary but I always called him "my gentle giant"

He was taken from us many years before his time but I will always cherish the memories and laughs we had.

I could go on and on what an amazing fur child Roscoe was but I think you get the point.

Our fur children deserve more than just being called personal property or a pet. They deserve to be called family because that is exactly what they are. Family
