Does not victimize Dr Dhananjay केळकर of Pune

The Issue

An Open letter to Modji and Devendra Fadnavisjji”! 👇👇
I am open to be corrected on my understanding of the Dinanath Mangeshkar hospital incident.

A cancer patient walks into a Trust hospital. A surgery is performed to remove both her ovaries at 50% of regular charges. She leaves the hospital without clearing even the reduced bills.
She is advised against becoming pregnant at the time of discharge.
She goes to a Corporate IVF chain, pays the high cost of IVF, conceives twins.
Takes treatment locally for 7 months and then when she develops complications, walks into the original Trust hospital for management.
The hospital informs her about the estimated cost of treatment which includes surgery and Neonatal Intensive care for premature infants (She was only 7 months pregnant, with babies of the estimated birth weight of a few hundred grams)
Given her past history of renegading from her obligations to pay her medical bills, the hospital requested for an advance deposit.
The patient’s relatives initially agreed and after some time just walked out of the hospital.
*24 hours* later she is operated upon in a private hospital with excellent facilities for Neonatal Intensive care. (We don’t know if they deposited any money there in advance or not)
She unfortunately developed complications during the surgery and was shifted to another tertiary care facility and died 3 days later.

Now the entire focus of the relatives is the “*Alleged refusal*” of the first Trust hospital to treat her without a deposit.

Medical ethics definitely demand stabilizing the patient in an emergency without regard to money. (*The Golden hour*) concept!
But in this case the underwent the patient walked out of the hospital, and the surgery the next day after 24 hours in another hospital! There is no evidence that the Trust hospital refused even basic care and transfer facilities. (She left the hospital on two legs, not carried away)

Given these facts it is sad that the Trust hospital is being hauled to the coals all because the patient was the daughter in law of the PA to a MLC. 🥲🥲
Even worse the  concerned Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who had no role in refusing treatment is being vilified by all and sundry!
Worst is our National Body of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists hasn’t uttered a word about this malicious attempt to victimize our own colleague!😡😡
AMC has offered all help to the doctor concerned!
I am a card carrying vociferous supporter of the BJP Modiji and Fadnavis ji, but this kind of thing will have a huge negative impact on our entire fraternity and society in general
