DOES FRANKLIN AVENUE NEED MORE CANNABIS STORES? NO!

The Issue

DOES FRANKLIN AVENUE NEED MORE CANNABIS STORES? NO! HELP US LOBBY OUR OFFICIALS TO REJECT THE LICENSE TO OPEN YET ANOTHER DISPENSARY AT 469 FRANKLIN AVENUE.

Rising out of deep concern for the well-being of our community and the impressionable young minds that inhabit it, numerous distressed residents are against the idea of yet another cannabis store springing up at 469 Franklin Avenue.

With close to EIGHT operational cannabis dispensaries and smoke shops within a mere .05-mile radius, our neighborhood is already highly populated by these establishments. Further adding to the number would only serve to increase the exposure of our growing children and sensitive families to drug use, a prospect we all find disturbing.

While recognizing that cannabis stores can contribute to local economies, it becomes increasingly concerning when their prevalence overshadows other essential community services. The space proposed for yet another cannabis store could support businesses better equipped to meet critical community needs, thereby fostering a more balanced and inclusive neighborhood economy and social environment.

As residents dedicated to preserving our neighborhood’s safety, ensuring our children’s healthy development, and promoting balanced local business growth, we implore our local city council and planning department to reconsider the approval of yet another cannabis store in our besieged neighborhood. Sign this petition to help us steer the development of our community towards a more positive and balanced direction.

Community Board 8 will decide this week!
